If I liked Adorno/horkheimer's writings on the culture industry and Gramsci's theory of hegemony, what would people recommend in the same vein?

Check out Lukacs' History and Class Consciousness (http://marxists.org/archive/lukacs/works/history/index.htm), especially Reification and the Consciousness of the Proletariat.
Also, Marcuse's One-Dimensional Man (http://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/marcuse/works/one-dimensional-man/index.htm).
If you want to branch out a little bit, check out some situationist stuff, such as Debord's Society of the Spectacle (http://marxists.org/reference/archive/debord/society.htm).

You'd probably like stuff by Stuart Hall, such as Policing The Crisis. He uses the Gramscian notion of hegemony to explore the role of mass media in reproducing class relations.

Once you've finished all the other suggestions you should try relating those theories you just learnt to Jacque Lacan and Slavoj Zizek. Then it'll really blow your fucking mind.
