Okay, I've got a question for you. :)

Your online name is a bit different, and I was wondering what the intent was when you chose it.

Hmm ... there's no special meaning behind my screen name. I think it came about due to lack of creativity at the time I registered.

why? does it somehow make you think of me in a certain way?

RedCeltic
1st October 2001, 04:08
Oh I suppose it is a good name, as it's diffrent. I'm actualy supprised there aren't more Red --- somethings out there just a few... The first part of my name is just because I'm a socialist, and the second is well, I'm an Irish/Scot and like the Glasgow Celtic Football Club (even though I'm in NY) and also has to do with my religion... ( Wicca) so... I'm RedCeltic :)....

But I did wonder if " Breast Pump" was a joke I somehow missed. :)

Let us see...I am 25, female and live in NW Florida.

It's almost impossible to describe my political views because they tend to be everywhere and very unpredictable.

I only heard of Che on Vox's board a few months ago.

I thought he was a WOMAN! :lol

Breast Pump

thanks to everyone who's posted :)

oh, and i completely agree with ^ on political views. I have plenty of views, however I welcome personal evolution. I strive to make complete thoughts for myself and not regurgitate someone else's, although influence is inevitable. ... did i make any sense?

Chief Rebel Angel
1st October 2001, 17:05
but theres nothing wrong with having the exact same opinion as someone else, no?

When First Exposed to Che: On this website about a month ago but i've liked the idea of communism since I was about 5.

Other stuff I do: I race canadian canoes (C1) after i've swapped from racing Kayaks (K1) and I aim to win the Under 16 marathon National Champions and the Adjutants Cup (Under-18 500m sprint champion) next year and more long term I'm aiming to get into the team for the 2003 junior world sprint championship and possibly the 2008 olympics.

Breast Pump
9th October 2001, 00:50
How can you like the idea of communism at age 5? Is this something people say to seem  ? I mean ... there's no possibe way a 5 year old can grasp the purpose of communism.

If however, you appreciated group projects and working collectively with your class mates, i suppose I understand.

Please explain yourself.

i was first exposed to Che about a year ago and ive admired him deeply ever since

9th October 2001, 15:59
i first heard about che when i asked my mother
"so who's that guy, the one who's face is on all those posters and t-shirts when thaey have riots and demonstrations?"
"You'r probably talking about 'Che guevara'"
so i did some research on him and have been an ardent admirer ever since.
truly one of the greatest men who ever lived in my own opinion

Moskitto
9th October 2001, 20:10
It's true. It described communism in the games' historical encyclopaedia as "A system of government where the nation (land) and means of production (factories) are owned by the masses." I saw this and thought it was a good idea and it went on to explain who concieved it and more stuff. But the last line was "So far communism has failed to bring about a world based on worker values" which made me think "Why doesn't someone try it properly?"

I new of people like Stalin and Mao only from the computer game (yes that's how much I use computers.)

Stalin was a Russian guy who is VERY dangerous to be next to because he would always invade you and you wouldn't stand much of a chance.

Mao was a Chinese guy who was really easy to beat into submission (and make him pay you everything he's got for peace) because he only built about 2 cities. Unless you got to about 2000 AD where he was normally quite aggressive.

I came home from school....My mother was crying...Che was dead....I was too young to understand...Today I remember and think about what it means to be comitted to 'la causa'.

Moskitto: I suppose you were fortunate enough to be exposed and seek knowledge about such a matter.

I'm only 22 but how I envy high school revolutionaries. My h.s. mentallity was much too stagnant. I was saturated with mainsteam nonsense and the like. Truly sad. I must now make up for all the lost time. I'm however greatful that I got over my dense episode. Long live self education =)

thanks again to all of you for sharing a bit about yourselves.

That's good to know.I worked in Scotland for 2 yrs so I did have the pleasure of meeting some of those Settlerwatch twats.Mind you they'd probably not know how to start a PC,let alone be browsing this site. But I would agree that "Britain"or rather England, has got far more out of the "union"than Scotland.what do you think.

SOS, those settler watch types seem to have mostly vanished now. I remember about 8-10 years ago they were putting flyers up on road signs all over the place. They are a complete embarressment to their country.
To be honest mate, I`m not sure what anyone really gains out of the UK. England would not really be a less powerful nation than Britain. Other than the oil Scotland should not really have that much to offer Britain.

I am English too. Personally, I have no objection to the UK, though it should be reconstituted as a republic, perhaps a federal republic. But I believe in the right to self-determination of the English, Scottish and Welsh peoples.

Anyway I'm 23 and live and work (as a software developer) in Oxford.

Hi, the kevolution's real name is, unsurprisingly, Kev

Live in Ireland (south)

First introduced to Che at an early age, 7-8ish. My Mam made me a rug with his image on it, and since then I've been walking all over him, lol.

Used to be a die-hard Republican, but realised that violence will not achieve the liberation of the north from imperialism, only working class unity can achieve that and it will be difficult. I have no illusions on that front.

I am a Socialist Party of Ireland member and an activist against basically everything... whats new eh? Have always been a lefty, but converted to communism/socialism about 3yrs while doing a history degree. aged 21 going on 40.

What's up y'all? I went away for a while... came back a while later and nothing changed. It seemed like we had all taken a vacation from this site at the same time, so I went away yet again, but the second time I came back so much had changed. There were many new interesting threads as well as forums. I love this place now more than ever, yay!

Happy New Year everyone. One love.

My younger brother came home with a friends t-shirt that had Che on it, my father went ballistic saying that being ignorant and wearing something for the hell of it wasnt enough, so my brother went to the library and came home with enough literature on him to sink a battleship....as he read he kept telling me little bits, so in the end I relented and read some of them myself...and have been an avid admirer since...
