i started taking some classes at my local community college. i've got basic direct current circuits down. if anyone is interested in learning more about the fundamentals of electronics i can be of help.

here's a good online textbook:
www
.
allaboutcircuits.
com

i'm just starting out but i'm thinking maybe if any one is interested we could start a discussion and help each other learn more about the things that beep and boop around us.

I discuss electronics and similar subjects all the time at physicsforums.com . But beware that they have strange rules over there, for example, if someone asks a question that seems to be a student's homework, it's against the rules to tell them too much.

Seems like a useful skill, wish I possessed it.

It's a dying art unfortuantly. Everything's about chips now that cant be home-made (although can be home-programmed). The digital age is sweeping away a lot of these valuable skills about how technology can be created in an individual's house, not only on a mass production line.

I myself own a soldering iron, but I've just been looking at it for months now wondering what to do with it. I thought about joining an electronics club, but I thought it'd just be filled with kids and I get snappy sometimes.

well, my english is not so professional, so, internet tutorials are not so helpful for me.
1)but I am interested how to make: gps/gsm jammer (blocker of signal)? maybe someone can explain what is inside and how it functions.
2)instructions about micro radio station is good also.
3)explanation of electronic inside of ATMs machine is useful also, especially everything about alarm :D

By no means a small project, but capable of jamming various frequencies

You mean an fm transmitter? Hundreds of schematics online, lots of things to consider before choosing one, Firstly how much you willing to spend? what range do you want? How stable does it need to be?

Shit wouldnt know. Its essentially a computer and goes well beyond analog circuitry.

Yeah, ATM has computer inside, and of course electronic for printing of bill, etc. I think ATM has manual lock and electronic lock, plus alarm. I think alarm must be connected with phone line to security company and maybe they can have inside some device which can start to be loud if ATM is moved from its position. in some countries they include GPS track device inside of ATM machine. but if thief is fast, they find empty ATM. second solution is to have gps jammer.

radio station is very expensive for me, but I would like that anarchists in serbia have their own media. belgrade is 1 500 000 people, so it is enough for beginning. it means it is about 20-30km range of signal.
I don't know what means "stable" about radio station... if they want only propaganda, they can have stable radio station, if they want to propagate illegal things, they would have to move all over the city with combi/car during radio emission.

I think it is easier to buy gps/gsm jammer (80-200 dollars) than to create it, when someone is not educated about electronics. only professionals can make it alone. in denmark, it is legal. there is to buy in ads in newspaper, price is 100-200 euro, but it is ordered from some shops from Asia, I don't know does it really works.

Um i will stay out of this aspect of the conversation

Ok thats pretty ambitous, very expensive, needs a bit of know how and also not sure how well that would go down with the cops. But if your are serious, then pehaps join a couple of pirate radio forums, people should be willing to share a little know how and advice. You will probably need around 150watt transmitter, encoder a good antenna and location to mount it.Alot to think about....

You try approaching a community station and see if you can get a regular slot, see how things go before you splash out.

Or you could set up and internet station, not to hard, although im not sure how many of your target audience would have home access to the internet. On the plus side you could network with others in other countries and share shows.

I was talking about the stabilty of the transmission fequencey. Lots of different designs avalible and the smaller ones often sacrifice stabilty over price, meaning the frequencey will drift a bit.

I work a great deal with auto-electronics myself. If you need any info or help with your interest in Electronics then just give me a shout. Id also like to say well done to you comrade for taking an interest. Its just as important now as it was 20 years ago. Even with all the microchips and processors available to us today we still operate EVERYTHING electrical and the same basis (despite things getting faster and more compact).
