A talk by Holocaust denier David Irving in the U.S. ended in violence after two people at his event were stabbed.


The bloodshed occurred after the controversial British author had finished speaking at a hotel in a predominantly Jewish area of Florida.

Police said two men attending the event became involved in an argument. When they left the private function at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Manalapan, near Palm Beach, the row continued and escalated into a knife fight.

One of the men suffered serious stab wounds and was airlifted to hospital by helicopter. He is said to be in a stable condition. The other man suffered minor cuts.

Police named the two men involved as Christopher Nachtman, 31, and John Kopko, 43.

It is thought they were both supporters of Irving's views, but police said it was not clear what had sparked the argument.
Most of those in the audience were members of the white supremacist group Stormfront which is based in West Palm Beach.

MANALAPAN — A hush-hush lecture by a Holocaust-denying historian brought unwanted limelight to this town's elegant Ritz Carlton hotel when two of the attendees - including a noted local white supremacist - got into a knife fight in the hallway.

The brawlers broke furniture and stained the hotel carpet with blood Monday night after stepping outside British author David Irving's speech at the hotel on "decoding the Nazi message."

The two men - identified as Christopher Nachtman, 31, of Lake Worth, and John Kopko, 43, of West Palm Beach - were among an estimated 35 invited guests at the clandestine event, the location of which was held secret to confound would-be protesters.

Irving's lectures are lightning rods for controversy, with protestors around the country endlessly seeking to demonstrate outside them. But executives at the beachfront Ritz Carlton, who said they don't screen guests, said they had no idea he was coming.

The hotel conference room was booked under the name Focal Point Publications, Irving's book publisher in Great Britain, and the hotel's general manager told The Palm Beach Post he had no idea who Irving was.

If you really know how the skinhead scene works, you would almost pity these idiots. I read so many conflicting things online about this incident. I know there's always two sides to every story, but there seems to be a lot more than that to this one. According to one report I read, Kopko isn't commenting because he has retained an attorney! Was he not the aggressor?

I know him too, I use to hang out with his kids (my friends). I can't hate him for what he did, he was raised with the values he has just like everyone else was raised in different ways. Though I am not sure if he would have done that, I didn't think Nazi types fought each other, though it must have been for something he didn't like. Reguardless, knowing what I know now about the world and if I was in contact with him that might never have happened. Jon was my friend in a way, I did not look at him as a bad person, though he has his faults just like everyone else. The thing is that I understand where he is coming from, though assualting someone was not the best choise and I know that he has a temper and most likeley let this one go, though I havent spoke to him in quite a few years. (he might be getting old'er). He is not the kind of guy to lose a fight, then again I said one time that 'he may be the little guy kickin the asses of allthe bigger guys, but one day a little guy will be the one to kick his ass'' In this case I might be rite, I am starting to think the guy he was up against knew him good enough to get a knife (smart thing) though I don't think Jon would be the kind to pull out a knife, he usually is a lone wolf when getting into fights (or so they said)

It might not have been as thuggish, it could of course have been a heated discussion on the veracity of the superiority of the white race which enevitably descended into contempt of one or the other's favorite nutter that goes around giving speeches in dodgy bars as a warmup to skrewdriver, but in either case I doubt it was an interesting discussion.
