Modern day religions such as christianity, catholosism, Islam, Hinduism, any religion that worships a god or higher being is false. Most of these religions are based off of paganistic beliefs, even their holidays such as christmas and easter are deeply rooted in pagan holidays. The easiast way to tell a religion is false is if they ask for money or blatiently condridict their own holy text/scribes/laws whatever. But philosophies such as Buddhism which teach us not too search for money or worldly possessions but to give these things up and live life doing good for others simply for the sake of being good unto eachother is something we should strive for. I do not believe in dharma or karma as such forces are not always evident in the world, as people do bad things bad things will happen to them not by some devine force but because life can be a ***** sometimes, but the same can be said vice versa for those who do good and recieve rewards. I follow no religion but i do practice the teachings of various philosophies, mainly Buddhism. But what I hope for in my life, this my only life to have, is to obtain inner peace and world peace.

Actually, the teachings of Jesus were along the lines of ancient Buddhist philosophy.

There are some experts who believe that he had traveled to the Far East to study Buddhism,
when he was a teen. After all, there is absolutely no account of his life story from age 12 thru
age 30. Could he have went to India to become a student of "the enlightened one?"

Also, I agree that Christianity and other religions have become money-pits. What a shame.

Although the "opiate of the masses", religion gives the majority of people some meaning and purpose in their lives; something to strive for. The Ten Commandments for example offer a basic moral code, of which people can live by. Be there a God or not, subscribing to the basic doctrines of most religions can allow for harmonious living (although obviously not all of the time).

Cead mile failte!

mainly Buddhism

Which school of Buddism, because most of them were total bastards. Especially in Japan.

What we in the west think of Buddism is based on very little, and has no historical perspective

The United States mainly practices Zen Buddhism, which almost completely abandons the thousands of years of religious writings compiled in older Asianic Buddhist traditions in favor of smaller peasant's riddles. Just saying.
I'm an atheist because logic dictates that religious teachings are outdated and the probability of them being the correct inerrant view of the universe is extremely unlikely.
