I just joined the forum and I would like to introduce myself.
I'm a brazilian student from the state of São Paulo and I have been reading about socialism (and economy, philosophy...) for almost two years now.
I joined the forum mainly to learn.
About my political opinion, I'm for sure a left-winger and I'm quite liberal about politics. I really admire Trotsky's ideas (I've never read any of his books, however (shame on me)). I also believe in achieving the socialist ideals with democracy and peacefully. No matter how long this can take, I don't think that a coup would end in anything other than a totalitarian state. However, I surely support a REAL revolution - made by the people itself.
The situation in Brazil is my greatest point of interest, as a great number of people see our president (Lula) as a socialist leader. He was, indeed. But now he's allied to many sectors of brazilian right and he's not doing the social changes we hoped. I'm for a REAL socialist governmente in Brazil, and as I see it can only be done by the coalition of the Left Front ("Frente de Esquerda") with the parties PSOL, PSTU and PCB (Socialism and Freedom Party, Unified Socialist Worker's Party and Brazilian Communis Party).
I haven't seen many brazilian members here, but I hope that the brazilian struggle for socialism is interesting here, since is the best I have to offer.
Sorry about the long text...
