Cold & Flu Season Again

:( Well it is that time of year again when colds and flu begin to hit and take their grip on the public. I work at a large residential facility/vocational school for "at risk youth & young adults". We have about 1,100 residents. I run a dorm with 68 young men in it. The creep and crud has been spreading like wildfire on center. Now I am sick, but at least it is on my days off. I am having flu symptoms, but not nearly as severe as some of my residents. Maybe because of my age I am better equipped to fight this because of built up immunity. I am resting, staying well hydrated with allot of water and sleeping. If you are sick, take care of yourself and stay home! Wash your hands often and if you do cough or sneeze, do so into your arm/elbow, not your hand!

Can you get free flu shots for working in such a dense area?

We were given the option of the seasonal flu shot which I took advantage of. The "Swine Flu" vaccination is not available for us yet though. Having taken the shot may be another reason this virus has hit me less severely also. Vaccinations help but I truly believe that personal health, hygiene and building up a strong immune system are even more important. Also good sanitation of work areas, door knobs, phones, keyboards etc. are vital.

:glare: That sucks! Hope you get feeling better soon. I feel quite a bit better today, made it to work. I'm not 100% but still allot better. At my age I have learned when I am sick not to push myself, to rest and take care of myself. If I am sick I am not any good to myself or anyone else...
