"Anti-racism campaigner and teacher Blair Peach died as police dispersed protesters at an anti-fascist protest in Southall, west London, in 1979. Thirty years on Newsnight's Peter Marshall pieces together the events and looks at how they still resonate today in the wake of April's G20 protests."

Perhaps the "suspected" murderer spoke out to pre-empt the expected release of the report.:-
A secret Scotland Yard report into whether riot police were involved in the death of a teacher 30 years ago will be made public within months.

Sky News can reveal that legal advisers to Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson (http://indepth.news.sky.com/InDepth/topic/Sir%20Paul%20Stephenson) have indicated he is obliged to publish the report under Freedom of Information laws, and this could happen before the end of the year.
New Zealander Blair Peach died after receiving a blow to the head during a demonstration against the National Front in Southall in 1979.
The death was investigated by the officer in charge of the Met's Complaints Bureau, Commander John Cass.
His report is thought to have named officers as suspects, but the Director of Public Prosecutions took the decision that no charges should be brought.
The full findings of the Cass Report have never been disclosed, and Peach's family have accused the police and the Government of attempting to cover up officer involvement in his death.
Commander Moir Stewart, who handled the Met's response to the shooting of Jean Charles De Menezes (http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Stockwell-Tube-Shooting-Timeline-Of-Events/Article/20070811278276?lid=ARTICLE_1278276_Stockwell%20Tub e%20Shooting:%20Timeline%20Of%20Events&lpos=Home_0), has been put in charge of contacting those involved in the incident to warn them of the imminent publication, and to ask them whether any of its contents should be redacted.

Yea, Accounting and Corporate Social Responsibility I understand. As if he knows anything about "Social Responsibility"!
Is there any intrest shown at the uni in his murderous past?

To be honest I don't think anyone knows who he is. I'll be sure to let him know he's still got blood on his hands if I see him.
