My understanding of the events is extraordinarily limited, hence why I want to discuss it and learn more about it (since there have been rumors about more coups being in order for the future since the one in the Honduras). From what I know, Aristide was a left-wing populist that refused to privatize state owned enterprises, and so France and the USA orchestrated a coup to take him out of power and forced him to write a resignation, kidnapped him, and sent him to South Africa. That's the extent of my knowledge.
