Basicly it seems like Gordon Brown's still all too eager to carry on Thatcher's legacy of privatising everything from the Chunnel to handing over student loan repayments to private buisnesses.
I'm particualy concerned about the student loan one. I'm not a student, but I do have debts with some private agencies who will think of nothing to use every dirty trick in the book to try destroy the standards of living that people have to claw back this money and slap on ridiculously huge charges at the slightest whim. When students went to uni they grudgingly accepted that they'd do so on a loan, not a grant, but at least the loan was to a relativly accountable source. Now the deal's broke. If you're a student, then you have to deal with the cowboys of the financial industry, indeed stuff like your credit rating and previous relations with employers could now effect your eligability for a loan in the first place. Education would be returned to an exclusive club of those who kowtow to the bourgeois and have the right background only.
Thatcher would be proud of the Labour party.
