Just wanted to see what people think about the irish governments claims that civil partnership is not discrimination as same sex couples are allowed to have a partnership in which they get all the same rights as a married couple but are not refered to as married.
I think that this is a case of discrimination as calling it something else is in reality dicrimination as you are calling it a different name over sexual preferance.

Correct.

If it is called civil partnership for gays it should be called civil partnership for heterosexuals as well, if it is called marriage for heterosexuals, the same should apply for gays.

Gay people do not have the same rights unless it is called the same thing. Because only then are we put on the same level.
