Have you ever read any of his books? I think he describes perfectly how our generation is slowly becoming alienated from each other and how material things slowly destory the soul until we become nothing more than automatons to society.
He also has graphic descriptions of sex and violence! Whohoo!!
Agreed. American psycho is one of my favourite books of all time. It's so hillarious, at least thats how I take it. One big mockery of consumerist capitalist society at it's height.
"I'm in murders and exectutions".
His writting style is really enjoyable too. I also read The Informers. Which was great.
I go to a BEE forum some times if you're interested in talking about his books.

There's been discussion about him taken a Marxist perspective in his writting, whats your opinion on this?

Hehe, yeah! Have you seen the film aswell? Its fucking hillarious! Christian Bale is totally believable as Patrick Bateman.
I dont know if he takes a Marxist perspective in his writing but he definatley has all the qualities of a lefty!
He can see the truth about the decaying capitalist society that we live in and i just think that the man deserves more recognition. He is one of the best writers of out time
I didn't like the film as much as the book. But Bale was Bateman to a tee. I thought the movie lost a lot of the bite the book had as a criticism of capitalist society.
There was so much to the book, the chapter that ends mid sentance. The end, this is not an exit. The way no-one recognises people, they so superficial. The urinal soap coated in chocolate.

Yeah, I think I'll have to read American Psycho again.
As usual, the film didn't come close to the book, but it was okay, I suppose.
According to Easton-Ellis himself, American Psycho was about everything that was wrong with the US in the eighties. I think most of that stuff is still going on, not including Huey Lewis and the News and Whitney Houston.
Don't count Huey out, wasn't he in Duets (or something like that) with Gwynith Paltrow a wee while back?
I smell a comeback album ;)

Actually, they are coming back. Huey was on the Late Late Show (the Irish longest running television chat show in the world) on Friday. Singing.
