I'm a little skeptical of this tidbit, because it's from the Telegraph, but I haven't been able to find any critical appraisal of the evidence from the sources I've reviewed.

Whether it's true or not, I think it's still interesting. If it is true, this might have major implications in Iranian politics. If it's not, then it's the latest collusion between the media and the establishment for imperialist purposes.

What do you think?

That would be terribly ironic. Sounds too ridiculous to be true but sometimes reality is strange.

Haha, sounds like a complete load of shit.

Wouldn't surprise me. Politicians are nothing if not liars.

Aren't a fairly significant percentage of Iranians Jewish? I don't see why this would be surprising.

It's surprising if one accepted the premise that he was a Jew hater. However, that's disputable at best and is more likely completely wrong.

Who cares? He's a reactionary anyways.

Yes, I'm sure he is just one of the many Jew-loving Holocaust-deniers...
Really, though. This is silly gossip. It shouldn't be in the "Politics" forum. "Chit-chat" seems about right.

I think his Holocaust denial is more of a way to provoke Israel and try to undermine its legitimacy than a sincere, passionate belief in that idea.

Move this to Chit-Chat.

Haha, well if that is the case, he is even more stupid. All he's doing by parroting that nonsense is undermining himself (which is fine with me) and legitimizing Israel in the eyes of the "international community" (which is not fine with me). So whatever his intention (and I really don't care about his intentions), he's only giving Zionist imperialism more fuel and support.

Well, he's Khamenei's little parrot. What could a parrot do apart from parroting?

Found a good refutation of this claim. It was so widely reported that I thought it merited discussion simply on the basis of its political implications, but surprise! It's bullshit anyways.

I'm still waiting for some proof of this holocaust denying that isn't western propaganda.

Ahmadinejad is not an anti-semite though to my knowledge, just anti-zionist, and critical of the holocaust being mythologised by the zionists as some sort of justification for their own holocaust in palestine. So I don't really know that this matters anyway.

Any person who thinks that the holocaust numbers were overstated is either an anti-Semite, or an idiot. I go with both for Ahmadinejad. Not a fan. So what if he is anti-Israel, the Nazis are too, and Al Qaeda. We don't need to act like everyone who we share a view with must be some wronged hero. I will give it to Ahmadinejad that he is no worse than his opposition, and less of a bastard than the clerics, but he is in no way an ally of the left. Even if Chavez pretends he is (if anybody likes realist views on international relations, you have one hell of an example there).

WTF. I never said he's an ally of the left, or somebody we should even defend.

Just that its wrong to characterise him as an anti-semite.

way more intresting is the recent scientific research that is showing that the current muslim/cristian palestines are actualy the (converted) remnants of the orginal jews out of christs times and that those that claim to be (safardi and azkenazi) are actualy multi god worshipping peoples who in in the middleages converted to judeaism because they didnt want to take sides in the emerging clash between cristians and islam.
