Once, it was a matter of heated debate between Bio-science community of USSR and the "mainstream" western scientific community. The works of Ivan Michurin and Lysenko. At that time, the so-called mainstream scientific community, naturally dominated by west just discarded their achievements in a single word. But, on new findings of genetics showed that "switching off" process of genes have been taking a very crucial role in evolution. As for example, by switching off some genes can convert dinosaurs in birds. Well, it may not be possible that genes can directly be changed by influence from surrounding environment, but it may be highly possible that their "switching on" and "switching off" can be triggered by external environment.
I am not a man of Bio-science or Genetics. I am requesting to others, who have in-depth knowledge in this field show lights on this matter.
