Occasionally I'll have this glitch where like, I can't click in application windows... it doesn't seem to recognize if I'm mousing over, say, a button, and if I actually click buttons it acts like I'm clicking outside of the application window, and the program stops being "active" or whatever.
What the fuck? This makes my computer totally unusable and I have to restart.
I can try to clarify if it's not clear - it's hard to explain.

Mine does the same thing a lot what usually fixes it is updating the software or add more RAM.

It's a new laptop with Vista and a shit ton of RAM. The extent of my multi-tasking is usually running MSN, FireFox, and OpenOffice Writer.
Techies please help!

maybe you have a problem with your graphics drivers? have you got the latest updates for everything? your probably best off using google to see if anyone else has the same probleme, this isn't really a computer forum.

The problem is I don't know how to explain it to Google it. And computer forums suck. But I'm quite sure it isn't a graphics problem.

The word combination you're looking for is that your active window loses focus.
Can you still use any other program at this point?
Have you tried a virus scan?
Does ctrl-alt-delete still work at this point? If so, does it list any program you don't recognize in the program list?

Thanks a lot, I should be able to take it from here.
