The Atlas Forum (http://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php), which I occasionally frequent, is a website dedicated to the discussion of the American electoral process. The demographics of the board are pretty obvious: ~80% white, virtually entirely middle-class, and conservatives (and 'libertarians') dominate. There are exactly two 'socialists' on the entire forum, and both could accurately be described as social-democrats.
I'd like to infiltrate the forum. And I'd like to recruit the most knowledgeable posters here to do it. I do not want to 'convert' anyone there; by far the majority of them are ineducable. Instead, I'd like to test out a theory: that explicit Marxist analysis - without referencing Marx - is, in fact, largely acceptable to most anyone.
So here's the plan: I'd like however many of you agree to do it to sign up there and start posting, and, eventually, and as subtly as you can, drop bits of Marxist analysis in your posts. I don't want you to be obvious about it - I don't want you to immediately call for the overthrow of the bourgeoisie. I do want you to provide a detailed class-based analysis of the political system and of the economy in whatever thread is pertinent, and see how many people who would describe themselves as anti-communists agree with you.
To summarize: I want you to promote Marxism without the "Marx", and see what kind of reactions we get. And if anyone calls you out on it, deny it - argue from a position of common sense. The end result is to find out precisely what it is people find objectionable in Marxism.
Contact me on here with your username (via PM) after you've registered and I'll give you mine.
