Saw a quote by PFLP founder George Habash on a Wikipedia article about "Communist Terrorism" (:laugh::laugh:), about how totally awesome it is to kill Jews. I was like hmm this doesn't sound like George Habash, so I checked the source. It was sourced from a nutty right-wing psuedo-newspaper with dodgy weight loss ads and pop-ups. I was like hmmm lets see if I can find this quote anywhere else... Google came up with 3 pages of results, all either citing the nutty right-wing newspaper or Wikipedia. Nowhere else.

Never change Wikipedia.

Yeah, I was looking at the Wikipedia article on Tiraspol, Moldova a while back because that is where my grandfather was born and I was trying to figure out exactly where he had lived. Anyway, I came across this peculiar piece of "information", which is still there (I put the hilarious bullshit part in boldface):

Jewish history

1847: Jewish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judaism) population in Tiraspol amounted to 1,406.
1897: Jewish population rose to 8,668 (27% of the total population).
1910: Tiraspol had two Jewish private schools, one for boys and one for girls.
1926: There were 6,398 Jews (29.1%) in the town.
1959: The only synagogue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synagogue) was closed by the authorities. The Jewish population was estimated at about 1,500.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)]
1960s and 70s: The Jewish population was believed to be in tens of thousands, out of above 100,000 general population. Yiddish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yiddish) could occasionally be heard on the streets of the city.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)]
2007 Jewish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish) population of Tiraspol is 2,200.

What weirdos go to the effort to add shit like this?

Yeah that's pretty LOL. The problem is that's obviously incorrect... the quote I saw was really only incorrect to anyone who knew anything about George Habash from sources other than Wikipedia. Which aren't a lot of people.

Some topics that are not so contested such as evolution or maths have some good wikipedia articles. Anything else, and one should check the references in case of weird stuff.

In case that some american dude says that evolution is contested, take a holiday in a foreign land. Yes, you live in a horribly conservative and delusional neighbourhood.
