I'm half-way through the book and I find it very depressing but at the same time, hilarious. Frank McCourt does an excelent job in bring the laughter out of sorrow in his pulitzer-prize winning book. I saw the movie before and thought that that was amazing, but of course, the book is always better. I can't wait to finish the rest. Have any of you read it before and what are your thoughts on it?

I really enjoyed Angela's Ashes. I especially appreciate McCourt's humourous touches. I liked the description of how one of his teachers would beat you if you didn't know that de Valera was the greatest man ever, another if you didn't know that Collins was, and if you said anything positive about Cromwell they would all beat you.

I was planning to read his book 'Tis, but I figured it wasn't going to be as good as his first book since this one will be in his adult life, which he will have much more control of. However, I think I'm going to read it anyway.

i think it is, i liked it alot, not as much as angelas ashes but its hard to follow that one,

i had to read it just to see what happened to him, its about his life in NY, how he and his brothers cope, his relationship with his mum, its still a bit depressing like the first and also funny, i do recomend it

I thought Angela' Ashes was pretty good, but a lady I know named Liz Carol got really mad at mr. McCourt and told him he was not truthful about living in Limerick, as she had done so at the same time.
