I know this is going to sound lame but I really need to get out of the US and do something. I have tried to get people to join "our" side but I always get typical responces when they can't argue with facts such as the ever so common "you don't know what your talking about" or "your too young to know anything about life".

Being in the US makes me feel like I am rotting. I will admit I have not been out of the country but I do know I want a change of settings. The bourgeois properganda here is just to much at the current point in time.

I know one I leave odds are reality will hit me hard. I am trying to decide what to do? I want to do something but I am not sure what. Any armed struggle always gets my attention but currently their are not many leftist ones.

Any advice for a confused individual would be nice. I wasn't sure were to post so I thought it would fit best in here. Thanks in advance.

I think this thread will do better in learning. I'll move it there for you and we'll see if it grows some wings.

I feel your pain. The sheer amount of reactionary idiocy you encounter here is mind-boggling. You see all those Teabaggers parading around, going on rambling hysterics about how Obama is a "socialist" (though I must stress for many of them, the "socialist" label in the context of Obama is code for uppity nigger), the complete stranglehold the capitalist class has on every facet of our lives, from the media we are exposed to all the way to how our education system is structured, the sorry state of the labor movement and the left in general... not to mention rising poverty and unemployment, increasing state power and authoritarianism, all the wars waged with scant attention paid to things like health care...

It's a fucking depressing place in many ways.

Not that I want to glorify the other "advanced" nations, of course. I realize none of them are perfect, and things are worsening for them in various ways. But it seems to me the control the capitalist class has over the U.S. is nigh absolute in comparison with those other nations, and the mass ignorance that results from it is demoralizing.

It's not just the USA heh. Though I think that the USA is horrible, well, Portugal for example is a bit better.
But the same problems arise.
Two political parties that are exactly the same, but state that they are completely different, rule this country for ages.
One of them usually always gets absolute majority? (don't know the name of getting more than 50% of votes [meaning that you will certainly win because it's impossible to lose]) meaning that they can approve any of their suggestions in parliament.
Millions are used to save banks, while people die from hunger in this country and with MANY families living with less tham 150 dollars for each family member. Unemployment is high as hell, people are fired all the time.
Education is horrible, even after university, you can't get a job easily.

People live in horrible conditions while big companies and banks still have huge profits.

And when a journalist says too many bad things about the government, they apply pressure on it to cut the program.

Sometimes I wish I could live somewhere else.

Wow dude you just really made me feel good :bored:

But I gotta say I pretty much agree with you on eveything. The worst part of it is I'm stuck in an area were the KKK still has a chapter and other bs like that.

Well, i plan on moving too. after college. probably to germany or something. but, if i end up getting involved directly in action i may stay. why? americans must throw off their chains first so the world can do the same. The morale of the left would literally skyrocket and quite a few would die of excitement if the united states had a true workers revolution in the near future.

its up to you, and i wouldnt blame you at all for wanting to leave. (like me) but a part of me feels it is my duty to do work here and go for the seemingly impossible.

if you are unsure of where to go internationally. maybe try moving around to different regions of the US, it would help you getting used to new places and learn travel skills and would let you move while choosing where to move internationally. since you live in an area with the KKK ( i live in an area where the SPLC (http://www.splcenter.org/index.jsp) points out roughly 8 hate groups) i would suggest coming up with some sort of decision quickly if it is a danger to you.

Thankfully I am in no danger. It is, just as another poster pointed out, extremely demoralizing. I am sort of with you on the whole staying in the US as a duty to help a workers revolution if it should arise. However, when it starts to feel pointless after dealing with people that are drinking bourgeois coolaid to the point of no return.

Hm funny thing that people here always complain... why don't you take your life, struggle in your hands and start building something? If you don't have organisation near you make one...

I know how hard it is for American leftists. Although I am not American, I have lived here long enough to know about the issues. We now are nothing. The Left here is divided, the proletariat doesn't know us, and we seem like aliens to a lot of people. Racism and idiocy rule the land in some cases.

But there is hope. If we were to leave, how would the fight continue? The proletariat needs us, and we need them. We must transform this Hell into Heaven.

I would have organized you a job and an apartment here, were it not for the depression. Right now there are few jobs to be had, especially with american education. (No offense, but american education is kind of a joke here. Not many employers would take your schooling seriously, you'd end up cleaning or something. In addition, many nationalists see all kind of foreign education as inferior, except as a part of local exchange program)

I'd suggest europe anyway. The media and the general mood here tends to be relatively left oriented if one is used to american media. It's still not communist, but it is something. Sweden has a policy of open doors when it comes to immigrants, so you might wanna check that one out. I myself am planning to volunteer in the WWF for several years once I finish university. You might want to consider something similar, since having a volunteer workforce of religious conservatives is highly unlikely.
