If I do not burn
If you do not burn
If we do not burn
How will darkness come to light?
- (Nazim Hikmet, Like Kerem)
I just read this fragment by Nazim Hikmet in the dutch forum, where it was posted by a fellow forummember.
Wikipedia says Hikmet was an Ottoman Communist that was banned from his country and fled and died in the USSR.
Does anyone know more about or more beautifull poems by this so-called 'romantic communist?'
