I think that there are better ways to spread the word than flyers. However, that is just the opinion of a young socialist. I admit, I still have much to learn. However, I have seen others succeed in using methods that I have not seen anyone else use.

For instance, Barack Obama managed to get elected fair and square in the US and actually gained voters and turned the collective minds of many christian-Americans. I think he succeeded so well because he put promotions and information regarding his campaign online and even put some tidbits in some video games; he also campaigned in select cities around the US and had a lot of promotion in magazines and such. I realize that this all takes a lot of funding, something we may not have (at least, I don't); but I was wondering if this has crossed anyone else's minds. I haven't seen much promotion of socialism online, just information about it. Is there anything that we can do about this?

We have to remember that traditional, on the ground organizing was also a major plank to Obama's campaign strategy. As for internet campaigns and putting things into video games and such, not only do we not have the resources for it, but it seems a little backwards. We need to up our ground game - it doesn't matter if you have the most beautiful websites and the newest interactive online campaign doohickeys if you only have six people on the ground.

Obama getting elected and the working class becoming conscious of its historic tasks and carrying them out are two very different things.
This.

Why, of course. I was merely using an example of a moment in history where someone with as unpopular ideas as Barack Obama came to success. This has happened in plenty of other times in history.

Let us not forget how christianity came to be. They preached their material as fact--with rather charismatic speaking--and never let up; no matter how badly they were beaten and no matter how many of their own were killed. They also reached people from other beliefs by borrowing some of their holidays and practices. Then the Romans and the Greeks combined that with their government, and viola; they became the dominant religion on Earth.

Now, I am not saying that it was good that religion was integrated into government because we know that causes a lot of bad things. However, if we replace 'religion' with 'socialism' in this scenario; I think we could achieve much better results.

I am also not saying we should borrow anything from anyone because that will cause what we stand for to go corrupt (as christianity did). We should just keep out beliefs about socialism the very same and not change it one bit.

With those revisions aside, we should do all else what the christians did and I think we will have much better results in attaining a revolution.
