I was just reading this PFLP article (http://www.pflp.ps/english/?q=pflp-reiterates-demand-cancellation-abbas-netanyah), which I thought was interesting from a leftist perspective. While we ordinarily advocate peace when possible, and it does seem like some peace could come out of this, but we also tend to recognize that freedom cannot come from concessions from above.
Should we support these leaders meeting for peace, or a continued struggle for Palestinian liberation and return of the Palestinian people's land?
Personally, I cannot see Israel's government giving any concessions to the Palestinian people anyway, it is just an attempt to buy themselves some time to rebuild defensive lines before a new movement into Palestine and military conflict.
Realizing that many here may be hesitant to have it noticed that they visited the PFLP website:

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine reiterated its demand upon Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to cancel his planned meeting with the Zionist prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Barack Obama in New York at the United Nations General Assembly meeting. A PFLP spokesperson stressed on September 21, 2009 that this meeting provides an official Palestinian policy cover that serves only the terrorist Zionist regime.
The PFLP spokesperson said further that this meeting comes in light of promises of ongoing settlement construction and attacks on our people in the West Bank and in Jerusalem, the ongoing siege on Gaza, and on the eve of US/Israeli joint military exercises aimed at threatening and subjugating the region. Furthermore, the PFLP spokesperson said that this meeting comes while Israel announces development of a new missile with full U.S. funding. The spokesperson stressed that it is clear that the United States does not exercise any real "pressure" on Israeli policy but instead encourages its aggression. The U.S., the PFLP spokesperson said, is an imperialist power seeking to maintain hegemony over the region and engaged in a long-term strategic alliance with Israel, and will never provide a mechanism or support for Palestinian national rights and goals.
The spokesperson reiterated that the Palestinian Authority has systematically bent to the pressures and dictates of the United States with utter disregard to the interests and needs of the Palestinian people, as epitomized in this meeting with Netanyahu.
The spokesperson concluded by saying that the Front demands that the PA cancel this meeting and stop the entire policy of capitulation and concessions, the legacy of Oslo, which has failed completely to provide anything for the Palestinian people, and for which the Palestinian people have paid and continue to pay a very high price.
