Hi there.
Just discovered this forum. I'm looking forward to learning more about socialism as I'm still fairly new to it.
I am a member of the Socialist Party in the UK (CWI), but I'm quite a new member and have an awful lot to learn!
It may be a bit of a contradiction, but I came to socialism/Marxism through Buddhism!
I'm a Buddhist and also a qualified psychotherapist.
Buddhists don't believe in a Creator or in anything permanent and eternal like a soul. However, personal experience has shown me that following the practices and attitudes of Buddhism have really helped me. Buddhism has certainly got a lot to say about grasping and selfishness!
Anyway, I think the world is in a dreadful state, and the divisions in society and the unfairness and cruelties of Capitalism need to come to an end.
As a Buddhist, I feel it wrong simply to hate Capitalists, but I do consider them to be Ignorant and in need of some 'Wrathful Compassion'.
I hope for a world where we appreciate people for what they are rather than how much money we can squeeze out of them.
I think many people are addicted to banging their heads against the brick wall of Capitalism. It's time to tear the wall down and start again! :)
