Pyotr Masherov
''He died in an automobile accident when his car, escorted by police, collided with a produce truck (potatoes) that had unexpectedly entered the freeway. It was declared an accident but some think that it was staged by the KGB to eliminate a strong potential candidate for the leadership in USSR.''

So he was the candidate to be president after Brezhnev and everyone know that Pyotr Masherov would be a perfect USSR president as a very good communist and he was also we could say he was the best communist is Belarussia...

Well I don't know much about him, but I'm sure that it wasn't an accident and so someone wanted to take over the control after Brezhnev...

I don't think the regime went that far after Stalin's death. Shelepin was a greater threat to Brezhnev in the late 1960s and wasn't poisoned or anything. If you're trying to point fingers at Andropov, Chernenko was a more immediate challenge, being Brezhnev's personal favourite.

It's not probable that the KGB would start killing high-ranking Party members as late as after Brezhnev's death. They would have killed Yeltsin and probably Gorbachev too then, since they were greater threats.
