I'm planning on putting together a big list of general statistics to use for information-disseminating purposes. Things like unemployment rate, wealth distribution, child mortality, poverty rates, etc., as well as where the U.S. ranks worldwide among other countries in these areas. Polls showing support among the general populace for progressive measures such as universal health care would also be good.

Where are some good places to get such information? I'd like as many sources as possible, since I plan to compile a big document. Obviously, it would also be good to document these sources for other posters here to use for propaganda purposes.

This (the Statistical Abstract) is the de-facto source for US-based statistics. You might also want to look at the different government departmnts, as they usually have their own statistics branch.

Yeah the census bureau is pretty good, as well as the Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls.gov).
