I picked up somewhere that there would be enough capacity over the world to produce enough food to feed eveybody in the world. but I pressume that the countries who could produce that food. are to consumed with their own egoistic capitalistic way of being.

A lot of food is destroyed either to be used as auto fuel or just to keep prices high. Furthermore, in the U.S., most crops are used as animal feed, not human feed. We can easily feed everyone, but there will be a lot less meat.

Yep. The soy industry is actually actively against veganism. Sounds like a paradox, but the soy industry makes more profits off selling its soy as animal feed.

Just wanted to drop that one here

A system built on greed and slavery is bound to causing new problems with each day it exists

This fact is indeed sad in itself, but the real tragedy is the fact that no-one cares, and those who do don't understand why.

Even famine-stricken countries sometimes produce enough food, but often export it (as was the case in the Irish Potato Famine).

Most countries have the capacity to feed themselves. Ethiopia has the misfortune of being in a part of the world which is struck by regular drought, about once ever ten years. Hell, even in the Somali famine in 91-2, Somalia was exporting food.

Even so, the problem is generally not that the land can't support the number of people. The problem is always man made, either because of war or poverty.
