I would, but I have two magical objects that prevent me from crying over books or romantic movies. They are called testicles. ;)
Sorry, I'm kidding, I just couldn't resist that one...

The Color Purple; the rape, incest and physical abuse of the main character (I cannot remember her name). And when she is finally reunited with her sister and children.

lol
Worse, I think, are the people who paid to see it four or five times at the cinema.

I cry in most books, I cried especially in Behind the Scenes at the Museum by Kate Atkinson, at various points but mostly at one fairly near the end where Ruby gets really depressed.
I cried in Titanic but not because of Jack, I cried for all the lower class people who lost theri lives because the rich fucks wouldn't "clutter the deck" with vital lifeboats, that made me sick as well as sad and I was only 11, a budding socialist already!

i cried in the end of 'a hundred years of soitude' when he read his familys history through the words of a philosopher 100 years before...its sad because he knows it is the end and the loneliness and pity is so strong, seriously one of the greatest books of all time

i cried while reading The Grapes of Wrath. I knew that they were going to get flooded out, and that all of their work was in vain, yet i couldnt help but think to myself, while tears flooded my eyes, about yelling to the workers, "it's not going to work." then the end of the book just finished off the flooding of my eyes and opened the gate for a few tears to fall.

A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer
if there was one book that made me cry and want to vomit at the same time, this would be it. Don't read it if you have a sensitive stomach to torturous and grotesque methods of domestic abuse. this book will tough your heart, make you cry, and give you nightmares for the rest of your life. And I gurantee that after you read it, you will never want to physically abuse your children ever again. Because we all know how abusive you commies are to your children.....jk...... but seriously, be careful with this book....

How about Ender's Game, read that book well, and yes crying, and nightmares for years to come.

I've just thought of another, L'Assommoir, which was very depressing and the way Gervaise dies hungry and alone in that dark little hole.

I wouldn't say I cried but the very last paragraph of Jon Lee Anderson's Che biography really stirred up some shit for me.
I'm sure most people in this forum have read the book, for those who have not, this is it.
"Teran hesitated, then pointed his semiautomatic rifle and pulled the trigger, hitting che in the arms and legs. Then, as Che writhed on the ground apparently biting one of his wrists to avoid crying out, teran fired another burst. the Fatal bullet entered Che's thorax, filling his lungs with blood.
On October 9, 1967 at the age of thirty nine, Che Guevara was dead."

I've never actually cried, but "Death of a Salesman" (yes, it's a play but I read it without knowing the plot) brought me to the verge of tears. It also has some great social commentary (Miller's cool...).

The end of The Silmarillion and the end of The Return of the King by Tokien. Just the fact that an age was ending and the elves were all leaving, that choked me up man.

I cried reading "Waiting for the Rain" when the Boer almost shoots his black friend, and then his black friend nearly knocks him out before they realize they were best friends when they were eight.

There was a book about a dog that was the boy's best friend, and it got sick and at the end of the book it crawled away and died. God, I cried so hard. I was in like preschool, if even that old, and from that day on I have realized that the pen truly is mightier than the sword if used with skill. Also, The Color Purple made me cry like a little baby when I read it last year. Old yeller. The very very end of the silmarillion kinda made me sad. I dunno, probably more. And yes, A Child Called It is a depressing book.

I read an adaptation of the Odyssey and I cried when Odysseus came back and saw his dog, who was really old, and it recognised its master even though he had been gone for 20 years, and then died after wagging it's tail one last time. that made me cry, reminds me of my old dog.

Yeah...wasn't the dog's name Argos? Everyone else in my English class thought that was funny, but Homer worded it so beautifully, it kind of bummed me out.

There's something about animals that just gets me, the way creatures like dogs seem to love us unconditionally, like a child loves its mother, it's so touching.

I've really never cried while reading a book, but I've gotten a little emotional while reading books about serial killers. I feel bad for the murderous monster and the innocent victims..

Lately, some of the pro-war propaganda has making me pretty bummed out. Some students were handing out "Bomb the Iraqis" pamphlets, and the sheer hatred and ignorance really made me sad.
