Another great fallacy, since just a tiny portion of socialists consider themselves "intellectual", most of these I encounter on Revleft. It is true, the city planning is so terrible here, since they focused on profit rather than efficiency. I am sure some communist in America will leave the those 2 state for better efficiently life around the world such as Thailand.

If I were to meet with, date, etc. a woman that I wanted a relationship with I wouldn't, by any means, unconditionally expect her to have a profound interest in politics. That being said, after a failed relationship of my own--and which I did not want to fail--in the future I plan on trying to pay greater attention to general worldview of the person with whom I'm trying to build something long-term.

She (for me it would be a she, supposing that it happens-haha) wouldn't have to take an interest in the Soviet Union, Marxism, etc. for me to feel committed to her.

Rather than trying to find a stalinist or anarchist or syndicalist or what have you man or woman, I would recommend people on this list look for compatibility and always keep in mind compromise.

My opinion as to why the comrades from the USA on this thread, according to the comments so far, are majority single is because of a general marginalization of the far left in the United States. I think people (especially younger people, perhaps) fear that by trying to compromise in a relationship or please someone they have feelings for or are infatuated with they will find themselves changing unbeknowst to themselves and wish to cling to their beliefs all the more in an obstinate (steadfast, if you prefer) manner.

I think "simple" people are fine. I have a small circle of genuinely close, reliable, and positive friends--they are mainly leftist or, if not, they aren't rightwing and not all of them are by any means deeply interested in politics.

In my opinion, the general marginalization of the left in the United States contributes to this more personal aspect (of being single, finding it difficult to talk with "simple" people) of the concomitant parts of the composition of leftwing identity in the United States. [I find that sentence rather poorly composed when I read it now but am too tired to make an effort at reshaping it.]
