What did anyone think of this book? It was only a while ago that it was released in Britain. I find it hard to believe some things in this book. I konw the right wingers hate him, personally i find it a good mix of facts and fun and a good start in bringing politics to the masses.

I've not read it yet, although I heard about all the juicy parts from friends ad nauseum- but I love Micheal Moore.
All I have to say about Micheal Moore is that he is the only person alive with the right mix of whatever that he got my Grandma interested in politics after seeing an interview with him.
She mentioned it to me because she knows my political leanings- and between the interview, the fact she thinks he's a "nice, thoughtful man," and me convincing her, she put Stupid White Men on hold at the library.
IF MICHEAL MOORE CAN GET MY GRANDMA INTERESTED IN WHAT'S GOING ON, HE CAN DO ANYTHING!
A N Y T H I N G
No wonder the Right hates him, he made my Grandma interested in talking about politics. If you knew my Grandma, you'd be worshipping the ground Moore walks on too.
WHAT A GENIUS. More power to him, he certainly knows how to reach the American people, if anyone was going to.
And I can't wait to read it. Damn 24 hour day.

Oh and I'm going crazy waiting for Bowling For Columbine to open at the Roxy.
He's a genius.
Anyone see it?

No, I'm supposed to be going to see it quite soon. I find it difficult to believe it hasn't opened in BC and it's opened over here. Oh well.
I got Stupid White Men for Christmas. I thought it was great. My only problem was he wrote what I viewed as a serious, rational solution to Palestine/Israel, but wrote a big joke on Northern Ireland. That kind of pissed me off. Some of it wasn't funny when he was obviously trying to be funny, but it was still very informative and great stuff all round.

Alrighty then...???
If you'd like to send me money to go see it at the Cinacenta, then sure I'd be all about it. But because I'm low class rabble living from check to check, I am waiting for it to come to the Roxy, where you get to see a double feature for $5.

Ah right, so it has opened over there.
The cinema in North America is better, I think. We don't get to go and check out older films in the cinema, just new releases.
The Godfather Trilogy is probably playing in New York now. Just go in and watch it all day.....oh god......deary deary me, what will I do?

I loved it. Dear Georgie was hilarious, he just takes the absolute piss out Dubya.
But I almost couldn't finish the "idiot nation' chapter, so disgusted was I.
Im going tomorrow night to see Bowling for Columbine, can't wait.

bowling was fucking awesome. what a mix of humor and absolute apalling facts. there were only like five people in the theater which goes to show that was a really good movie. otherwise it would have been packed with teenie boopers. the part in heston's house made me laugh. what a phoney. that guy can't put together one coherent sentence that isn't pre-written for his old ass. fuck him and big ups to micheal moore

I went to see the film yesterday and it was absolutely brilliant.
My only problem was it wasn't as focused as I would have liked. Nevertheless I thought it was pretty conclusive, although I've already been coinvinced through my own powers of observation.
He goes into a lot more than gun control and school shottings and what not. He does quite a bit on the media, and throws in some US foreign policy to boot.
I also found many moments of the film quite touching, particularily the end.
Good stuff all round.

It's amazing. Michael Moore is truly a god. I agree, it is almost impossible to believe some of the things within it...

I have to say I doubt some of the statistics but he has a great writing style and I even got my parents into him this weekend. We were in France and the weatehr was terrible so we just sat in the car somewhere and I read Stupid White Men to them, my dad was reading it on the boat back and my mum nicked it to have a look, but I think she was just checking what I was reading
I'm about 1/2 way through, Kill Whitey was a great chapter, as was Dear George. I can't wait to see Bowling for Columbine some time.

My Dad read Stupid White Men in a couple of days.
Which stats do you doubt, Mentalbunny?

I doubt some of the stuff about corporate sponsership of schools i guess, and the stuff about how much pilots earn.

I really enjoyed the mini-clip in BFC on Americas foreign policy i thought it was the best part of the movie. I went to see it with my dad and his gf who has a son at westpoint and when that scene came up and she registered it she immediately looked down and zoned herself out untill it was over you could see it watching her. Its amazing how easily people can tune in an out when they dont want to recognize the truth. Michael Moore is a genius though!

How long did it take him to get there.Senior pilot for Delta is pretty prestigious. It can take decades before you reach the really big money. Most of the yanks flying in europe for cowboy outfits get paid peanuts. What they do get are flying hours, lots of 'em.The more hours you get,the better the chances of moving to a left hand seat with a decent airline.

I've read a fair bit more now, only a few chapters to go, not sure how many. It's very interesting to see how Michael Moore would deal with other countries like Northern Ireland (I think that and North Korea were his worst solutions). I thought the one about Palestine was incredibly astute, I just wish they would decide to follow a non-violent path, I'm sure Allah would still let them go to Paradise if they were killed when theyw ere being non-violent.

His "solution" was fucking bullshit! It pissed me off, I took the Palestinian one quite seriously, and then Northern Ireland was treated as a big joke.

I read the book and saw the movie. They were both incredibly awesome. The movie shows americans obsession with guns. The book is so great that I bought two copies of it just to support Michael Moore.

Something along the lines of "tell everyone to convert". All the Protestants become Catholics, or the other way around.
I really love reading his books, they are very good, and Bowling for columbine was excellent as well, but you have to see his The Awful Truth and the TV Nation if you can get a hold of it.. The big one is great, but I still havent found Roger and Me...

I have read both Downsize This and Stupid White Men. I have also seen the movies Roger and Me and Bowling for Columbine. Michael Moore is simply brilliant. There are perhaps a few who are funnier, and perhaps a few who are more incisive politically, but I doubt there is anyone with a better combination of the two than Moore.
