I recently purchased this great piece of work by the genius philosopher from florence. Although his views are capitalistic, his views are also authoritarian and he writes on how men are wicked. His analysis of human nature is brilliant.

I recommend everyone read this book. If you dont understand Machiavelli, you will never understand my logic.

I think you would be very interested in Legalism, which sprang up in China, during the Era of the Warring States. The followers of this movemnet felt that an authoritarian state was the ideal state.

I was thinking the same thing. The philosophy that all men were evil and that strict punishment must be enforced to ensure equality. I forget who started the philosphy though.

oh yes, i am very interested in that philosophy as well. It is the best of the three major philosophies that came out of china. The Qin dynasty used it very well during their short reign.

Machiavelli just wrote The Prince to appease the aristocracy and get them offa his back. In his major works, the Discourses I believe they're are called, he totally contradicts everything he said in the The Prince. For example he states that the people should rule, because even if they get outta hand, they're easier to reign in than a despot. Go ahead and adher your ideology too it, just realize the author didn't support what he was writing.

I enjoyed THE PRINCE. Somewhat similar in philosophy to Sun Tzu's THE ART OF WAR. Machiavelli teaches how to run and sustain a dictatorship. Pretty interesting. If you want to be a dictator...Mazdak.
