I'm wondering if anyone here ever wears an industrial uniform, a large hammer, a sickle, and worker boots in public for the purpose of showing solidarity?

Or would walking around in stores with a large hammer and a sharp sickle be reason for the police to arrest you?

Err, why? Even the few remaining industrial workers these days don't dress like that. Even if they did, there's more to solidarity than imitation of clothing styles.

I think it would.

I saw someone that said he was with the IWW dress like that.

Whether or not he was really with the IWW or just posing is the question.

Even if the actual police didn't arrest you the fashion police could. You'd look like a tool.

I used a sickle when I was in Peru and I cut my finger open. It's not fun.

Some kind of wanna-be hammers and sickles should do the trick. And as far as I know many industrial workers still dress in jumpsuits or things like that. Not everyone, and the practice is diminishing, but at least our local foresters, paper factory workers, ship builders and metal workers dress in some kind of "work uniforms". (How cool it is to say "metal worker". Brings to mind some kind of heavy metal communist.)
