missnothing

I searched the forum and nothing about him came up... so I thought I'd write something.
dahrjamailiraq.com
Its not an overtly leftist based website, but basically the low down is Dahr Jamail is an independent journalist who has done what I find some very enlightening, as well as disturbing reporting from the Middle East. One of the main things I admire about his work is he takes the perspective of conflicts such as the current Iraq war from a civilian perspective and actually intergrates with the people who he is reporting on, taking the conflict from a much more human perspective; he goes 'beyond the green zone' as such and gains quite an intimate relationship with the Iraqi's (he does work on other middle eastern countries and peoples but mostly it is on Iraq) he lives with. Another thing is that he took the initiative to go out to Iraq (and various other countries but mainly Iraq) on his own accord because he was so angered by the state of the mass media and their pathetic attempt at 'news'- he could have easily just stayed safely at home working on his quaint local newspaper and casually enjoying rock climbing but he didn't. And thirdly, through his intimacy and connection with the people he reports and the independent influence I find his work refreshingly honest and I am pretty sure he is sincere in his concerns.
He is worth checking out at the very least. I'd recommend subscribing to his mailing list- his dispatches are very informative.
