hmm.....I know some of you attend school and have to do outside reading projects for English. I was just wondering what you guys would suggest if it were a choice between the following:

Gomulka: his Poland, his communism

Soviet Marxism: a critical analysis

two books on soviet foreign policy

the white house transcripts

communism: threat to freedom

none dare to call it treason

the naked communist

message from Moscow

political power: USA and the USSR

I was wondering what you guys would pick if you were put in the same situation as well as get some suggestions as to whcih of these books should be on my top priority of books to read. hmm.....I can read four over the next semester......any suggestions

the naked communist

isnt that the book written by J Edgar Hoover? if it is, i remember reading the first couple of pages or so of that when i used to work in the library. if i remember correctly, its also a long book. if thats it, i would NOT read this one, as from what i could tell, the book has no legitimate points in it, and would probably just get you pissed off from reading it. i laughed that something that idiotic was even published when i read the first pages, but to have to go trough the whole thing, i dont think i could do it.

i know i didnt suggest anything, but i did give you an opinion of one of them, maybe that will help.

and if it isnt the book im talking about above, then just disregard everything i said...

dude, those were exactly the same ones that I was thinking of. right on man!

actually I already started reading the critical analysis of soviet Marxism written by this Frenchman. It is the best because it is not biased on either side. It gives you just the facts.

I think that I will in fact read those three unless anyone suggests otherwise.

my mistake MITRS. i think hoover wrote another book about the evils of communism, but the name of it leaves me right now. but yes, i remember the title of the book, and i would NOT recomend it.

I don't blame you...I wouldn't read anything written by Hoover.

Naked communism and None Dare to call it Treason are both very anti-communist. Steer Clear!

I personally would go with the Soviet Marxism - a critical analysis. and the white house transcripts - which I believe is about Watergate. and political power - USA and USSR, which sounds like a comparison study.

:)

I am reading an analysis of soviet Marxism. I am up to 67 pages in the book.

yes, the naked communist and none dare to call it treason are both very anti-communist but from the few pages I read, if I had to read one it would be none dare to call it treason.

and yes, the whitehouse transcripts are from the watergate scandals and Nixon.

And, the U.S.A and U.S.S.R is a comparitive study but is pretty interesting because it is written by an american and a soviet so there is a lot of debate in it. I have only read about 74 pages of that so far and there is about 350 pages or so.
