Is that a trick question? You could be the EDL's token black guy...

The right-wing group behind a series of anti-Islamist protests which have ended in running street battles is planning to demonstrate today in London's Trafalgar Square.

A pro-Palestinian rally scheduled several months ago has been switched to neighbouring Pall Mall, much to the anger of the organisers. They blamed the decision on the English Defence League (EDL) and other right-wing groups.

Really really wierd event...I'll write a report after I consult some other comrades present on the day...I'm shattered at the moment after a hectic and slightly mental day.

this was shit from what i saw

about 20 EDL guys(and a women) in a police barrier in leicester square with some Iranian protesters

about 15 SWP people were down regents street i think but they said they wernt going to go confront the EDL because either they were too outnumbered or the Police wouldnt let them or something

Me and two of my boys stood at the barrier with tourists screwfacing (lol) the EDL for a bit but weren't feeling to try a ting when out numbered so much

got bus to hyde park and on the way saw a fairly big protest of Muslims marching for Palestinians in the direction of Leicester square

I dont know what happened after that or whether the Palestine protest made contact with the EDL. we probably should of stayed at LS or jumped of the bus and gone back.

Nothing really happened. The UAF march got stopped far from where the EDL were. The whole Iranian-EDL thing was confusing as fuck and disgusting, the whole event was disgusting. You were probably standing near me. There was literally 20 of them (EDL), but nothing happened at all really. They had alot of spotters about etc but really nothing happened. You weren't the only anti-fascists about that area though (;))

They protested in the centre of London and didn't get sweeped off the streets? Weird.

No, not really. let me right a report to clarify this.

The EDL announced they would be having a protest against the pro-Palestine march which contained alot of Islamists. They didn't march anywhere.

They were seperated into small groups which were held in various pubs in the area under heavy police protection, i.e. streets were closed off and there were vans and hundreds of cops.

A UAF march went to the area but got stopped halfway. The EDL moved around in small groups with some on the streets and the rest in the pubs.

They all moved out of a few of the pubs and about 20 of them grouped up on a traffic island that was surrounded by police. There was a polcie helicopter about and a dozen vans. They walked out of the pubs under heavy police protection (not jsut ordinary cops, TSG). Anti-fascist were surrounded or tailed constantly.

They were put behind a police pen (metal fence) surrounded by a line of cops. There was cops lining the whole area, surrounding them and even any on lookers. 20 of them held a 'protest', i.e. 20 of them waved a union jack and shouted aggressively. Most were clearly drunk. After the Palestine march passed they were slowly escroted out of the area. I'd say there were at least 100 police for 20 of them.

This would be the hardest place to sweep them off the streets without the right numbers. The UAF had about 50 people maximum so they didn't have the numbers. Even if you had hundreds there was laods of police. So it isn't really suprising - there was simply ntohing that could be done with the number of fascists about.

The EDL looked pathetic again - 20 pissheads surrounded by 100 police shouting something incohrent. They couldn't even chan't 'England' in tune.
