In your opinion, what is the most progressive political party in the country.
I have been looking at joining a party recently and wanted to know what other marxists think.

Interview all the organizations. See what they are doing. See how they educate and treat their comrades. See how they treat you as a potential recruit.
Join the one that does the best work and treats its comrades with the most respect.

This, and I'll mention my preference for the Communist Party of Great Britain (Provisional Central Committee) (http://www.cpgb.org.uk/). :)

Communist Party Of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) although there support for Stalin can be a bit much and they don't seem to have a set of policies I agree with what they are doing.

More or less complete list of UK far left parties (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_far_left).
I endorse the Socialist Party of England & Wales (http://socialistparty.org.uk/) and the Communist Party of Great Britain (http://www.cpgb.org.uk/). The first is actually a party in the sense it does something and tries to build socialist structures and awareness within the workers movement. The latter party is interesting as a platform within the far left..

Where can I find a statement of its programmatic position in regard to the question of unionism?
I'm most interested in reading it.

I would recommend taking a look at Socialist Resistance (http://socialistresistance.org/), the british section of the reunified Fourth International.
