This is undoubtedly a masterpiece. With all this talk of war today i just thought it would be fitting to make a thread about probably the most popular and famous anti-war novel, All Quiet on the Western Front. I know that when i read this it changed me and my perspective on things. Brilliantly written, i recommend everyone who has yet to read this classic do so immediately. Highly recommonded over any other book, this will leave you hanging on every word, experiencing the pain and suffering of these soldiers, and will have a huge impact on you, as it did on me. It truly is devastating what happens in war as this story points out. I almost connected with the characters in a lifelike way. This is easily my favourite novel ever.

The ending in the original movie is better than in the book.

Also, it was more about IWW than war in general.

Thanks for remembering me that I have to read it! It's obligatory at school and tomorrow we have the test about it. I haven't started yet, now I have something to do in the evening. But I've heard that it's very good! Thanks again!

I believe i was the or early to mid 80s. My Teacher showed it to us last year and I remember seeing ads for artari products so it must be the 80s. The ads weren't in the movie but my teacher had taped it off the TV and he let us watch one commercial per commercial break, so thats how i remember.

I read the book, it was really sad but in an uplifting kind of way, if that makes sense...I also saw a more modern film of it but it was rubbish.

lol killingstars, I (almost) cried at the ending too, but I decided it was more prudent to sit and space out.
