Who was the director of the movie and is it a good one? I've heard just a little bit about it, I don't even know can I find it. But I'll try my best!

The director was Michael Radford, nobody interesting. John Hurt however played Winston and I thought he did a pretty good job. Overall however, I think the movie stank in comparison to the book. I had a friend watch with me who hadn't read the book and could not figure out at all what was happening in the movie. I had read the book so I could fill in the gaps they left out.

I would also like to know when the film was made because I am already thinking about how to find it. And it's quite typical that films made by great books don't tend to be that great at all... But it would definitely be very interesting to see it!

Try www.imdb.com you guys have got to go to this site. I mean here you all are asking questions for things when you obviously have access to the largest database in Earth's history - the internet. :)

But to answer your question, I believe it was made in 1984.

i was talking to my english teacher, who also loved the book, and she said she'd seen the movie and it was "okay" but not great. but i have yet to see it and really want to just kuz i loved the book, even if i come to hate the movie, thats ok. i just want to see what they did to it.

There is also the movie "Brazil" which had very much influence from the book "1984".

there is a British made film made in 1984 with the actor John Hurt, who played the android in Alien.
