I finished reading this book the other day, it wasn't quite what I expected.
It started off really slowly, about 100 pages in I nearly gave up. Then it kind of exploded into a very interesting and exciting stroy line. Only to fade out at the end.
It was an ok book, but nowhere near as controversial and ground breaking as I expected. All in all I could live happily if I'd never bothered to read it.

i first read to kill a mockingbird in the 5th grade. the i watched the movie. i didnt really understand all the content then, so i read it again...and again...and again. i read it 5 times. and saw the movie twice. its my favorite book. of all time. if you read the book and arent at all moved by the content and the heaviness of the material, then i dont understand whats goin on with you.

I read thje book back when I was in third year, for school. I thought it was great.
I'm not sure what I would think of it now though.

It's an amazing novel. It was really groundbreaking for its depiction of race and female roles. It's interesting but its worth is probably measured more in its controversy and attempt to tackle unspoken issues than its actual content.

One of my favourite books. I recommend that everyone read it.

I'm doing To Kill A Mockingbird as one of my GCSE Eng Lit exam texts, my teacher is really big on american literature like this and she loves Arthur Miller and tenasse Williams too. I first read "to kill..." about 2 years ago and enjoyed it, but, although i got more out of it when we did it in class, i'm glad I read it on my own first. It's got lots of interesting issues, prejudice seems to be the main thing. I think we should take note as everyone seems to think it doesn't exist anymore but it does...
