I have to write a creative essay btwn 300-500 words. It should be expository or exploratory in nature and does not require a reference or source page.

And I choose Items number 3
History: Compare and contrast industrial capitalism and radical socialism.

Help? (This is humanities)

Maybe you should narrow the topic somewhat.

There are 4 topics I can only choose:
1.What are the goals and ideas of the Utilitarian philosophers?
2. How did new materials influence architects and builders?
3. Compare and contrast industrial capitalism and radical socialism.
4. Explain why Napoleon was at first accepted and later rejected by composers, poets, writers, and artists, and how he influenced their artworks.

The professor, however, doesn't seem to explain more about topic #3.

Topic No.1 seems boring to me, so I would discard it.

For narrowness, I would choose topic #2, except i would have specific dates in mind when talking about architecture. Also, an architecture topic provides the opportunity to include images of cool buildings and structures, etc.

Number 3 is way too broad a subject to cover in 300 words.

The Napoleon topic is interesting but a little beyond my abilities since I am neither an artist nor a musician and all I can think about is Beethoven's 'Heroica', blah-blah... Also, 300 words wouldn't even begin to do justice to such a lofty theme as Napoleon's influence on the art of his time.

So I guess it would be topic #2 for me!

The fuck kind of an essay about world history doesn't require any references or sources?

Bourgeois "history"...

Did I tell you about my Matriculation Exam, in which the english test contained an essay of 800 words about the most ridiculous of subjects. I then decided to spice things off by writing the essay so that when you take the first letter of every parallel line, you get the sentence: "Anthems to the welkin at dusk"... Does anyone notice to which thing that was a tribute to? ;)

Also, in the finnish language matriculation exam I wrote about a fantasy gaming convention. In the story I included an example of elvish runes from lord of the rings. What the board did not realize is that the runes formed the sentence: "Matriculation Examination board is a bunch of comma-fucking wankers!" I came to the conclusion that they never noticed either prank after hearing that I had passed the both tests with good points even.

I really don't see how you can answer any of those questions adequately in 300-500 words.

woot! I managed to convince him about removing "industry" and "radical."

Now this is easy.

I'd actually say that you're fucked! If the words "industrial" and "radical" were expendaple it means they were there just for rethorical purposes. And this on the other hand reveals something about your teacher's... attitudes. Although the actual formation of that essay does turn out to be possible after that.

Now this is easy.Indeed, you've actually managed to broaden the scope of the essay :glare:

I doubt he would have to though. He could just talk about Beethoven for a composer and someone like Jacques-Louis David for a painter, who actually shows the reverse. It would be interesting to screw with the entire premise of an "essay" like that, especially if you don't like the teacher.

Again, looking at the title, it actually about writing a letter to a friend. I have no ideas why he puts creative essay. Strangely enough, he is originally from Germany.
