People always say they dont want Communism as it is too hard and it never really works.
I dont think we should just not try something because its hard, why are people so apathetic, is it because they are exploited and just dont care anymore.
If the working class became aware of its power communism would be unstoppable, yet it only ever seems to come to power in a few isolated countries, thus making them countries Totalitarian as the fear of destruction by capitalist forces is deep set and really feared.
How can we create a communist state, without having to be stallinist to keep it secure.

We have to fight without borders, International Communism. Logistically difficult, but I think necessary to avoid repression. Peaceful co-existence cannot work.

You new to this whole Marxist thing, Armalite? You seem to be asking a lot of very elementary questions.

Personally, it does not matter even if communism was impossible, for it is the only ideology that conforms with my own morals. So for me there really is no other way.

And yes i am fairly new, where i live most young people i knew want to be Gangsters or drug dealers.
Its the self loathing rebelion wich comes with feeling worthless.
I wanted to do something positive, but i thought to myself, Gangsters are just entreupeners in a capitalist society, so i looked into different political views, and Marxism for me was the only one wich was based on ideals that had any morality.
My family always were labour party, my mom supported the IRA but they are mainly just voting against the torries.
Oh by the way can anyone reccomend any good books, i need to educate myself further.
I was going to but Trotsky Prophet Armed would you reccomend it, so far i have only read the communist manifesto and various books on the IRA LTTE but no real hard hitting Marxist books except from the manifesto

I trashed all the off topic discussion from this thread, can be found here (http://www.revleft.com/vb/off-topic-discussion-t116514/index.html?t=116514). There was actually some substantial discourse there, so if anyone wants me to split that part of the conversation and make another thread so you guys can carry on, just message me.
I'm going to move this thread to learning
Edit: as per request of sam, I've re-split part of the thread here (http://www.revleft.com/vb/prejudiced-language-split-t116518/index.html?t=116518)

I have a few suggestion for the young person getting into Marxism (which was me not all that long ago).
First throw away every preconceived notion you have about communism and socialism.
Second simply start from the beginning and learn about the revolutionary left from the revolutionary left. Your mind is likely filled with either lies or straight out falsehoods that have been put in your mind by the capitalist media or other misinformed people. Read Marx or read the opinions of a Marxist and you will find they are quite different than what many people will tell you.
To answer your question there are some very specific material reasons why communism/socialism has not yet been successful. First is that socialism can not arise until the epoch of capitalism has matured. For Marx that meant a pretty heavily industrial country like Germany and Britain were then and most of the western world is now. The simple fact is that compared to many other economics systems capitalism is somewhat young, the conditions for socialism to arise have only been present for a limited amount of time. Lenin held a different view and believed that revolution could happen in a largely peasant country if either it were helped by a capitalist country or if many poor countries pooled their sources together. Thus far Leninist countries have not been successful in trying to skip the age of capitalism within their country. (there are many theorized reasons and arguments about why these countries have failed but I will not get into that)
My suggestion for your is to wait for a short period of time before taking on pro-capitalists. The more your learn the more solid your argument will become. Until then you will only be fighting capitalists with the straw man arguments they created and that will lead to nothing.

Unfortunately in the past revolutions have taken a decidedly nationalist stance. This was one of the issues at the heart of the sino-soviet split. Anyhow, of course there is more than Stalinism. I was trying to reply to the general question. I am aware that there is much deeper analysis possible than the two sentences that I wrote.

There are many trends in Communism; Trotskyism, Hoxhaism, Maoism and Luxemburgism to name a few. Each is opposed to the others. So I think that it is good for you if you take a look at the major communist parties worldwide belonging to each ideology and find out actually how much they have progressed on the road to revolution. You can set your ideological direction and read up on it accordingly.

O_o
As an anarchist, I'm not opposed to anything you listed, at least not in comparison to capitalism.
