Crying? What's sad about Jane Eyre? I read it when I was in school and hated it, but now I enjoy it more. It really is a novel meant for women. IB4C, are you refering to the book Mad Woman In the Attic?

Which book that was written after Jane Eyre are you talking about?
Jane Eyre isn't sad. It has a totally happy, redemptive ending. So, why would I have to cry?

as girls, we sympathize with jane's sappy love story. it's sad, we feel sad for her and sometimes place our teenage love lorn situations in hers. (i think most girls read it in their teenage years) i didn't like the ending, the story was dark and depressing, the happy ending was just too predictable.

I cry even when things go right in book, if the characters have suffered it means i'll cry more when they sort it out. I also cry near the end of books, becasue I feel like I'm losing a friend when I finish them, that sounds relaly bad doesn't it? If you like crying when you read books read "behind the scenes at the museum" by Kate Atkinson, I guarantee you will love it.

Most beautiful IB4C:
I havenīt red Jane Eyre. I just know about the importance of her author (shame of me, that happens to read "so" much...).
Anyway, what I really want to tell you is that you, as the very sensible and intelligent person Iīm sure you are, would like VERY MUCH reading Carson McCullers. For instance, "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter". And I tell you this just in case you donīt know yet McCullers.
Lot of kisses from a brand new compaņero...
