Is this a way to counter the argument, or does it only add credence to their argument.

Person A: People X are being treated unfairly. The way the USA govt. is treating them is a crime against humanity.

Person B: Dude, might makes right! We won, they lost. Get over it! We can do whatever we want with them, the winner gets the spoils and writes the history!

Person A: Do you truly believe might makes right?

Person B: Yeah. Dude, if we don't fight them there they will come here and rape our women in children. MIIIIGHHT MAKE RIIIGGGHHHTT!!

Person A: *Punches person B in the face, stabs him in the kidney, drops kicks him, and tears off his leg and beats him with it"

Person B dies.

Did Person A "win" the argument?

Not exactly....

What's right is sometimes a matter of perspective...in absolute terms "good and "bad" aren't that accurate.

For example, let's say you told this capitalist that if the workers took control of the means of production and decided to execute most of the capitalist class...he might then say "no that ain't right."

You could always say..."well, you said "might makes right" so that is suppose to be right...to you." But it isn't to him, since he's a [hypothetical] capitalist and the workers taking control over the means of production goes against his interests (thus it's "wrong" to him..but hey it goes in line with the interests of the workers so it's "right" for them).

However, false consciousness and/or other concepts, to a degree, mentioned by the situationists abound in society which keeps the working class from clearly seeing their interests at times.

If might makes right, Stalin was a pinnacle of morality.

This seems to be how I end all my arguments. ;)

Anyone who declares that "might makes right (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Might_makes_right)", should be reminded that "the pen is mightier than the sword (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_pen_is_mightier_than_the_sword)".

Thus the argument is trumped.

So why do actions speak louder than words?

Then they have no principles or values.

(:p)

Because there will always be those who speak softly and carry a big stick.
