I just read a news article at indymedia entitled "Military Surveillance of Anarchists in Washington State" regarding a spy who had infiltrated groups.

I think that the state sometimes tries to induce paranoia in people. It drives us apart. During COINTELPRO, the declassified parts that are available for anybody to read, they documented lots of rumor spreading, schism/faction encouragement, infiltration of finances/operations by informers, and generally chaotic behavior by some agent provocateurs.

I would not be surprised if the FBI allowed COINTELPRO to be discovered in 1971. The same with this news story, tracking devices, a regular seeming guy who is in the espionage world, the author meets the spy at a typical left-wing meeting place, and plus the author makes reference to the infiltrator bringing his child to a rally (don't trust anyone). Just seems fishy to me, kinda like they want new people to fear the state.

I know it seems weird, but is it really scary? We know that there are fascists out here, and if you believe that they are fascists then what did you think they would do? As long as we are disciplined, confident (we know what a fascist is and how it operates), we are convinced of our ideals (not susceptible to factionalism), and DO NOT gossip or pass on rumors, and use a little common sense, then I believe we can limit the effects of programs like that. There is definitely nothing to be spooked about though, we know what the deal is.

Thanks
