I've written several pieces, one not quite finished, so what do you think?
A girl runs away form home when her father forces her and her mother to move with him. The father has been abusing his wife and the girl realises this. She runs off the city, but as she is walking the streets at night she realises she has to go back. When she gets back her parents have already left and she has lost them forever.
The peice is written in the present tense, a bit like a film.
One man describing the death of his wife and son at a high school shooting by a mad man. at the end he commits suicide and there is a third person, newspaper article-like description.
Two kids who were bullied, shoot up their class in school, then kill themselves. stars inside one kid's mind, then third person narrative, then in the kid's mind again, as he kills himself.
strange, slightly horro-like story, in first person and present tense. very descriptive.someone walking down a long, old (tudor ish) hall, complete with portraits and suits of amour. it's very dark, and they start to here a voice in their head, a demon without shape. the demon tries to invade the person's body but they fight with it mentally and run, free, towarsds the door. it is not clear if they get out of the hall safely or not.
all these pices are about 600-800 words long, the minimum for GCSE is 500. what do you think? I'm not sure, i like the first and last one's best.
