Welcome RevLefters, to the first annual festival of Cognitive Dissonance!

Rules are very simple: post a video of someone being interviewed, or openly speaking to the camera, where the level of cognitive dissonance is clearly visible. The less time the person takes to contradict herself the better!

NOTE: If you wish you can highlight in your post what times of the video are particularly spectacular in the demonstration of this old-time favorite logical error!

The winner will be decided through majority vote after a sufficient amount of videos have been posted, and will remain champion until the next thread to be held on the 30th of August of 2010! This sufficient amount will be analyzed by the OP (me), and depending on how the thread goes on, and how many cognitive dissonance material our participants can find, then will the voting be started.

Tip: To increase your chances of winning, posting cognitive dissonance videos of ancapies will give you greater chances of gaining votes!

Here's my first entry:

P.S: Can anyone find the video of the Daily Show with jon stewart where he shows Glenn Beck pwning himself by claiming that Obama is a racist, then saying he doesn't hate white people, then claiming that he still thinks Obama is a racist?

I don't know if this counts, but jon stewart beats the nuts out of bill Kristol on his health care contradiction. I.e. the government can and does run a first class healthcare system, infact the best healthcare system, but its somehow not good enough for the American people.

I'm not sure if that is cognitive dissonance so much as open military worship, a major problem on the AMerican right.

I think it counts as cognitive dissonance:

Assertion 1: Claims government healthcare, at any level, will be worse than private insurance healthcare.

Assertion 2: Agrees government healthcare to the military is one of the best possible healthcare systems existent.

The "counter"-argument that military need different healthcare than normal citizens is irrelevant to the discussion of the quality of the healthcare

There you go, cognitive dissonance at its best.

I'm still not sure. I think he has just been caught lying, he does accept the Government can provide better, he just doesn't regard people who haven't "done their duty" to deserve it and covers with claims that the market is better.

It doesn't hugely matter either way of course. You could be right as well, maybe he didn't realise the contradiction. Personally though, I reckon there was a fair bit more cynicism on show there.

You've obviously have never set foot in a military hospital. Don't get me wrong. If you ever have some sort of traumatic injury like a sucking chest wound or a RPG round lodged in your rib cage, the military surgeons have no equal and can fix stuff that would scare the shit out of the most seasoned ER surgeon in Bellvue . But if you have more mundane health problems they can be a nightmare.

I'm not making that argument, billy cristol is arguing with himself.

A little 16 year old cracked voice kid, tears Bill O'reilly in 2, and Bill, just attacks the kid calling him a pinhead.

Here it is again, Barney Frank kills Bill with facts, Bill Ignores them, and just says "THE BOTTOM LINE IS" compleatly ignoring the facts.

Bill O'Reily gets destroyed by a socialist, you can tell when he starts to figure out he has no response, because he starts using words like "loonatic," "pinhead," "far-left fringe," and so on and so forth.

Herer she is again

When the revolution comes, Bill O'Reilly will be one of the first people with his head against the wall. I'm not a particularly violent guy, but I would gladly be the one pulling the trigger on that douche bag
