City Police Foil Communists - November 1932
Communist demonstrations were held in Dundee on Thursday night, the largest meeting being in the West Port. The police were fully prepared to cope with any disturbances. Deputations were selected at West Port to proceed to Councillor G.F.F Caldwell's house in Blackness Avenue and Councillor A. Aimer's house in Dudhope Street but police were appraised of their plans and when the reached their respective destinations they found detachments of police in readiness. Consequently their intentions of interviewing the Councillors were not carried out.Somewhat ironically, 'Councillor A. Aimer' is my great-great grandfather.
