Just finished it , thought it was an excellent book .

Is the analysis Naomi Klein makes accurate of free market capitalism ?

Personally after reading it I think it is . What do others think ?

If people haven't read it , seriously get it , you can get the audiobook for free easily off the internet if you can't be bothered spending the money on it .:)

Its good. Being a Keynsian social democrat, she's mostly nostalgic for the Keynsian version of capitalism of the pre-neoliberal period. However she doesn't actually criticize capitalism from a class perspective, but only the neoliberal version of capitalism. In fact IIRC she even praises Juan Peron of Argentina for his populist measures!

In the end, her work doesn't go into the heart of capitalism, but only superficially delves into the neoliberal epoch of today. She believes that a little bit of state ownership along with private ownership of capital is better than just private ownership of capital.

Having said that, her book is an excellent introduction to fence-sitting liberals to actually begin to critique capitalism, only thing being that she doesn't go far enough.
Exactly my thoughts . Good post .
