In Canada, I have noticed many people of Middle Eastern descent being called
'Terrorists' quite often. Has anybody els?

I've not heard "terrorist" so widely used in Britain, but "Muslim", "[illegal] immigrant" and "asylum seeker" seem to be interchangeable with "Arabic" or even "Asian" when we've no idea of the people's religion or immigration status.
These common societal racisms/discriminations are one of the most disgusting aspects of Western culture, I think, and the sooner they're gone, the better. People give themselves a pat on the back for no longer calling them "pakis", and yet they've simply switched to a "more acceptable" racial slur/judgement.

It's an unfortunate stereotype that has been created due to the actions of certain Arab extremist groups. I have heard it and often take the time to remind people that just because somebody is middle eastern it doesn't mean they're a terrorist. Most middle easterns in fact hate the actions of these extremist groups. I think alot of it is due to ignorance about the whole thing, people believing Islam is an evil religion with bloodthirsty followers who are hell-bent on destroying everything Non-Islamic. Also, I think alot of this extremism stems from misinterpretation of the Quran, the term "Jihad" in particular. Of course, not being a Muslim myself I'm not an expert on the subject.

I hear "Terrorist" often here in the UK. Along with many other racist terms.

However, according to the European Union I'm officially a terrorist for supporting FARC. Terrorist is just a label the media/government use to make somebody look bad.

"Terrorist", "raghead", "sand nigger"...they're all pretty well circulated in the US.

Its a waste of time to tell people who say this shit that a minority of people in the Middle East are associated with radical Islam.

My wife was called a terrorist by a waiter serving breakfast in a hotel when she was at a conference in Rome two years ago. I couldn't believe it when she came home.

I think this is a very general statement. Which actions? Which groups? I remember in the immediate aftermath of the attacks on the World Trade Centre the general reaction in Ankara, where I live, which is a pretty 'westernized' city, was that the Americans had got what they had coming to them.

There was some similar sentiment even at my school too, some people (I iterate; at the age of just 12) came out saying that most of the businessmen got what they deserved, it was only the firefighters and other people they felt sorry for. It was a teacher who semi-inspired this thought, by staying quiet then explaining his position in less.. shall we say explicit terms, but ultimately it made the kids think about it based on what he told them of them trading money all day so it made sense, although a couple of the kids were quietly 'outraged' by the looks of it, no doubt the more middle-class ones though.

I don't think "hating" such actions (or merely understanding that they are not conducive to any liberation of anyone) and at the same time feeling that they were invited by other, less spectacular, actions by American imperialism, are mutually exclusive.

You people just support terrorists! I bet you are all some Buddhist Hindus who are secretly plotting to kill all the free americans. You just hate my freedom, but I tell you that you have to fight me to get that! HA! You expected me to just lay down my freedom and surrender, didn't you? Well not in america you religious extremists! Jesus would certainly like to rape your babies.

I am Sikh (heritage-wise), and my dad wears a turban. We are from India, not related to the terrorists in any way. We have been called terrorists consistently and have been on a high-security list at the airport for no apparent reason, we have to go through a separate line in the airport. (Even though it is way faster then the regular line, it is still fucking absurd)
