i was talking to a friend last night, and she told me to pick up his book "breakfast of champions," and so when i went to work today, i checked it out. i have glanced through it, and it looks, well, a little different then most books. i was wondering if anybody has read anything by vonnegut, or if you have heard anything about him.

Hi again! I am halfway through Slaughter House Five. So far, excellent. It's an anti-war semi-auto-biographical satirical novel.
I will put Breakfast of Champions on my very long list of: "things to read before I die".

thanx for the replies. prior to my friend telling me about him, i had never even heard of him. im still not even sure what breakfast of champions is about. but when i finish the picture of dorian gray in the next day or two, i will read, and post my thoughts on it.
Never heard of him? Damn! What are they teaching kids these days???
Vonnegut is wonderful, and you're right, his writing is definitely different, but sometimes different is good.

i read slaughterhouse five, it was pretty good and all but he can have a tendency to repeat. if breakfast of champions is the book im thinking of there are lots of pictures and all of them are introduced in the same manner "it looked like this" or "something like this." slaughterhouse was killer but i heared from my friend that breakfast of champions wasnt too great.

I read Slaughter House 5 maybe aboit 5 year ago and since this time I just do adore Vonnegut. He is a special writer and I think everybody should know him. But I am also somewhat sure that there are a lot of people for who understanding everything he writes would be too difficult.
