Political discussions on this topic in America are limited to "Leaving Now" and "Timetable for withdrawal" and "Staying until job is done" and "Invading Iran" which all involve a large-scale public admission of exactly how America plans to do its business in the middle east.
It seems far more prudent to create an internally understood timetable that isn't publicly announced so there can't be an "enemy" buildup or strategy that seeks to take advantage of this departure date.
Does anybody in OI have faith that Obama has something like this up his sleeve?

Obama is a capitalist. I trust him slightly more than Bush, but I have no faith in him.
Why would the capitalists want to leave Iraq? From the capitalist class's perspective, we'd want to keep our forces in some relative quantity there to ensure that the Iraqi government is dependent upon the US so that we have more leverage. It should be clear at this point that the US didn't invade Iraq because the ruling class actually believed Hussein had WMD; it was very clear that he didn't from the beginning. So obviously there was a financial incentive for the invasion, in addition to ensuring regional hegemony. And while certainly firms like Halliburton KBR have already made a killing, the well is hardly dry. Particularly when it comes to manipulating the Iraqi governmental policy to ensure "free markets" and the plundering of Iraqi resources.

the iraq war cost a lot to maintain and american economy is in the red, of course he want to leave the damn place. has for iran, us dont have the military personnal to actualy occupy iran effectively and is aware of the shitstorm it may cause. unless the us is pushed against the wall, they wont do nothing toward other countries and focus on afghanistan, getting bin laden would be the ultimate stunt for obama.
